Paglesham Lagoon on the north bank of the River Roach half way between Stambridge Mill and Paglesham boatyard is another unspoilt walk in this part of Essex. A sizeable fresh water area with extensive reed beds that extend the length of the river wall from Stambridge Mill to Paglesham boatyard. The Lagoon is one mile from the nearest road and can only be reached through means of a footpath making this area a very quiet and peaceful spot. Just to the North of the Lagoon and to be seen on the walk is Bartonhall Grove, a large copse which for some years has attracted the only Heronry in this part of Essex.

Directions
The Lagoon can be approached from three different directions. 1) From Rochford: park at Stambridge Mill and walk east along the river wall. A round walk from this location would be approximately eight miles. 2) From Paglesham Boatyard: Park at the Plough and Sail Public house and take the public footpath through Paglesham boatyard onto river wall, walk west until the Lagoon is reached. A round walk from here is approximately 4 miles. 3) From Rochford take Paglesham road, After passing Biggins Farm on a sharp left hand bend look for a set of cottages (Jubilee Cottages) on the left hand side. The footpath starts just before the cottages and the round trip from here would be one mile. n.b. there is only enough room to park one car at this location.
