Edwards Hall 30th September 2001

A rather miserable and rainy day unfortunately met the members of our first field trip of the season. The blustery weather undoubtedly accounted for our very short species list

Edwards Hall occupies a high point of land between Hawkwell and Hockley. Excellent walks can be made from the small parking area by the Scrubs woods. Walking west will lead eventually into Hockley woods while walking south-west will take you down to Eastwood and to Edwards Hall park.

Most of the park remains as meadowland, cut for hay in July each year. This makes it a delightful spot for picnicking and birdwatching with an abundance of wild plants, birds and butterflies.
