A couple of trips to Wallasea at weekend including a very, very long Corn bunting survey, about 60 birds liberally scattered over the whole tetrad in winter wheat, oil seed rape and pea crops! On that basis must be close on 100 pairs on Wallasea. Previous counts have only covered part of area as curtailed due to poor weather! 3/4 pairs of Reed Bunting, a Reed Warbler singing in a reedy ditch and a liberal scattering of Yellow Wags and Skylark added to the mix. Jeff Delve (EBS). (The Goosander is a very notable Wallasea record - there have only been FOUR previous according to our Avifauna text. Nick Green).
