AM; 2 Little Tern, 6 Whimbrel, 50 Grey Plover, 35 Black-tailed Godwit, 10 Ringed Plover, 2 Little Ringed Plover ad. and juv. (rare here), 10 Dunlin. PM; As this morning, but there seemed to be a few more Grey Plover still in full summer plumage, 7 Greenshank still, 25 Dunlin, 3 Turnstone, 3 Common Sandpiper, could not find the LRP. Juvenile Sparrowhawk caught a starling on our front lawn and spent 10 minutes just standing on the prey and calling, before plucking and starting to eat it. Managed to fly off with the remains when disturbed by neighbour's cat. David Selley.

Wallasea Island
Female Peregrine (ad.) on prey in middle of one of the recently cut rape fields. Wetlands had same wader mix as yesterday but a small and distant group of Knot are new in, two pairs Tufted Duck and brood of Mallard in borrow dyke. Loads of Brown Hares - over 20 seen this evening. Tawny Owl, one on post near Lion House flew east towards fishing pits, another near Loftmans Corner a couple of minutes later both about 10pm. Jeff Delve (EBS).
