2 Grey Heron and 1 Little Egret roosting in the trees near the car park in the fenced area, c.30 Swallow and House Martin in a mixed flock along the seawall, 4 Pied Wagtail 3 of which were juveniles being feed by the adult. S.Jackson.

1+ Hobby, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Willow Warbler (probable heard calling), 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Skylark, 4 Chiffchaff, 1+ Reed Warbler. c.15 Marbled White including 1 taken by an Emperor, 5 Marsh Frog (several in pond), 1 male Southern Migrant Hawker, also one female (according to other experts), and several Emperors. 2 Southern Migrant Hawker, several Scarce Emerald, Great Green Bush-cricket, Roesels Bush-cricket, Long winged Coneheads and a Wasp Spider. 1 White-letter Hairstreak (very worn, on bramble at bottom of ride from St Marys Road), 6 Brown Argus (very fresh), 1 male Common Blue, 1 Wall (on buddleia east end of St Marys Road was unexpected), 20 Marbled White. 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Chiffchaff (1 singing). 10 Marsh Frog, 1 Grass Snake swimming along one of the ditches. 1 Brown Argus on E-W track on marshes at bottom of slope from St Mary's Road, 1 Painted Lady on buddleia at end of St Mary's Road, 3 Marbled White. 4+ male Southern Migrant Hawkers, 3 Migrant Hawkers, several Scarce Emeralds. 1 Cattle Egret in Little Egret roost south of scrape, went into deep cover at 21:00 and then not visible. Best chance to see may be to go to Vange Marsh early and hope the Cattle Egret follows the other egrets as it did this morning, 45+ Little Egret on roost south of scrape, viewed from first hide. 15 Sandwich Tern, at least 2 Little Tern, many Common Tern, at least 4 Mediterranean Gull (3 adults and 1 possibly 2 2nd summer, 1 1st summer), 1 Whimbrel, 2 Ringed Plover, 30 Black-tailed Godwits came across the river from the direction of Sheppey, 1 Peregrine Falcon circling over the Point, 4 Linnet. 1 Seal near the Point. 3 Little Egret, 1 Marsh Harrier over Havengore Island, 7 Kestrel over Potton and Havengore, 4 Red-legged Partridge on the tip, 1 Grey Partridge calling and showing in the rough grass south of the first pool, 54 Lapwing, 51 Whimbrel all in one large flock roosting in the middle fields, 3 Spotted Redshank in the first pool viewed from between the farmhouse and the barn, 3 Greenshank, 11 Green Sandpiper in the first pool, 1 Wood Sandpiper in the first pool, 2 Skylark, 4 Sand Martin on wires with c.50 Swallow, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Corn Bunting singing. Laindon West 18:45 to 19:30
At least 50 Swift, 50 gulls (mostly Black-headed + 1 or 2 Lesser Black-backed), 1 Hobby feeding on flying ants over and around my back garden. Hobby disappeared and came back over carrying prey item, which it was plucking as it flew along. Not sure what it had caught; it didn't look like a Swift. Andrew Cox.

6 Spotted Redshank, 49 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Greenshank, 9+ Green Sandpiper, 1 Grasshopper Warbler reeling on the old tip by the saline lagoon. Martin Cracknell (SOG).

3 Mistle Thrush. An adult feeding berries from our Mahonia shrubs to two juveniles waiting on the lawn. Two visits of approx. 10 minutes duration. John Bennett.
