Tollesbury Wick, 11:45 - 15:30: Quail 1 single bird flushed from sea wall path as walking by, (Almost stepped on it as passing!), Marsh Harrier 1, Little Tern 14, Avocet 12, Turnstone 1 bird in full summer plumage, Whimbrel 4 feeding on mud at low tide, Spotted Redshank 2 feeding with Redshank at low tide. Barling Gravel Pits, 12:00 to 15:30: 2 Hobby (a pair flew across the road just west of the buildings near Barling Church. This was followed by a confiding bird that sat on a post in the horse paddocks by the farm and was seen chasing off Kestrels - see photo below), 1 Montagu's Harrier (a cracking male was seen hunting over the grassy area just west of the new workings at Barling Tip. It was seen earlier over Fleet Head by Ian Douch and Lee Ebbs), 6 Little Egret, 3 Cuckoo, 6 Turtle Dove, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Avocet (On the main pool). Steve Arlow (SOG).
Two Tree Island, 13:40 - 16:40: In bush on western side - 1 Cuckoo, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Dunnock, From the lagoon - 18 Avocet, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Shelduck, 4 Redshank, 2 Ringed Plover, 1 male 1 female Linnet, 2 Whitethroat (1 adult and 1 young), 1 Wren, In reed bed on the eastern side - 3 Sedge Warbler, Swift overhead (around 6-8), 2 Greenfinch, Around the pond at the eastern tip - Reed Warbler (several darting around the reeds), Little Grebe (1 adult + 2 young).
