1 Reed Warbler in full and sustained song (heard not seen) calling from reed bed next to island in Friar's Park main fishing lake (unusual for this time of the evening?). Also plentiful Common Pipistrelle bats (at least 6, probably many more). Jackie Bliss.

Hide only: 6 Avocet chicks, Cetti's Warbler heard, 1 Little Egret, 1 Common Tern, pair of Gadwall were joined later by 16 on scrape, 1 drake Shoveler and Teal on scrape, pair of Redshank displaying on scrape, 4 Lapwing on scrape, a small movement of Swift, 1 Little Grebe chick, c.37 Pochard. (a brown warbler about size of Blackcap with greyish-white underparts and a yellowish patch on wing was close on left side of hide. No idea what it was). Richard Fahey.

Terrified black cat being chased by brown hare along road, cat dived into bush and hare sat and stared before itself fleeing from vehicle. Hare was very close to cat but cat, swerving and veering suddenly, kept just in front until it escaped into the bushes. Second hare in field. There are cats here which do catch rabbits and pheasants, perhaps it thought the hare was a rabbit? Gary and Jacqui Dunn.
