1 Snipe flying across back of low reed bed, 1 Water Rail, 1st sighting since last Thursday week, even more elusive, staying later than last year, 2 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker on tree north east of brook (also seen by others), both pairs of Swans are now sitting on nests, one pair since Monday and the other pair from yesterday. We have seen a report regarding the Peregrines in Southend. A look around the base of Portcullis House for the remains of prey of the Peregrines produced, amongst other species, a juvenile Starling, 4 Golden Plover, 1 Black-tailed Godwit and an Avocet!
