Male Merlin landed in my garden. Prey in talons he settled about 15ft away from my window under fruit trees and ate his small bird. Stayed about 15min. A wonderful sight. Chris D.

Tawny Owl again by bungalow between Loftman's Corner and Lion Creek on the double bend. Stopped off about 8:45 and tried whistling it up and a few keewick's later it flew onto the bungalow chimney! Little Owl on road sign 50m south of Loftman's Corner first seen hovering - a new bit of behaviour for me. Reed Warbler quietly chuntering away at Butts Hill Pond - unusual here in spring. On way back from Wallasea about 9:15pm. Finally caught up with the local Tawny Owl on telegraph posts near the bungalow at TQ 917943. He entertained us to a post by post move down the road to Loftman's corner before we left him.
