Both resident Swans now reunited as the female Swan, injured by dog attack two weeks ago, was returned from Orsett Wildlife Hospital yesterday at 11.30am. Both Swans proceeded to oust new pair of Swans that had arrived on Sunday at 9pm, so now we are back to normal. Both Swans messing about on nest, small chance of more eggs this year. Good job by everyone all round. 1 Pair of Pochard on pond, 3+ Pairs of Swallow feeding over pond surface. Robert Dobinson.

Nightjar flew north at a low height over Pitsea Marsh viewed from hide and then out of sight, bird had a tawny chestnut or dead leaf colouring,very long pointed wings and long barred tail resembled a falcon and was around the same size but no bigger than a Kestrel. 7 Cygnets hatched and on pond, 1 egg still in nest. Blue Tit nesting in tall tree opposite Swan island - the same tree that we saved in 2006 when we stopped it being cut down when it had a Green Woodpecker family nesting.
