Leigh-on-Sea, Tattersall Gardens 07.20 - 07.40: 1 Sparrowhawk juvenile male, seen perched on cherry tree in adjacent garden for 10 minutes until left in pursuit of 5 Collared Doves which had come down to feed on RSPB Challenger feeders in my garden. Martin Johnson.

Hadleigh Country Park 09.30 - 10.00: 1 Adult Harris' Hawk, escapee perched in hawthorn mobbed by various irritated Corvids. Mike Sagrott.

Saturday 27th September 2003 (The Brent Geese are finally arriving!)

Gunners Park, Shoebury 08:35: Possible 1st winter Ring Ouzel. this bird flew over my head in to the EWT reserve and only allowed a very brief view before becoming very elusive. The wings seemed very pale for Blackbird as it flew over and the brief distant view of the bird on the ground revealed an all dark bill and scaled underparts. Web Author.

Wakering Stairs 14:00 - 14:45: Large tit flock covering both sides of road between Catherines Lane and seawall. Approx 150 birds in all incl Blue Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit. Amongst them were Goldcrest, Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and possible Barred Warbler but I only got a very brief look before it hid in brambles. 2 Little Egret, 3 Yellow Wagtails. Paglesham Lagoon, 08:00 to 12:20: 1 Garganey (female), 1 Little Gull (Moulting 2nd year bird showed very well along the east bank hawking insects), 2 Mediterranean Gull (adult and 2nd winter.
