All 6 Mute swan cygnets were on the estuary this morning at 7.30 with mum for the first time. So the fence protection at the park has done its job. All of our volunteers have played an integral part from the early days of nest conservation work right through to seeing our fully fledged birds fly out to the estuary. Also experience from previous years has been invaluable and has enabled us to assess the requirements and advise all of the park users and visitors in general. Now we have three generations of Swans on the two park ponds and all that remains is to get the three cygnets safely off of Southchurch Park West in the next couple of weeks. Bob Dobinson.
