This Essex Wildlife Trust reserve on the southern shore of the Crouch Estuary was formed when a new sea wall was constructed cutting it off from the Crouch. The reserve consists of 12 acres which were bought from Anglian Water in 1986 with the meadow and the saltmarsh to the south being acquired in 1998. The creek itself consists of brackish water. The best time to visit for birds would be from the end of September through to late March. During this time the water attracts a variety of wading birds with possible sightings of Hen Harrier, Short-eared owl and Barn Owl. Entry is from the Canewdon - Wallasea Island road 1.5 miles east of Canewdon village.
