Wildlife Explorers is the junior membership of the RSPB, focusing mainly on 7-12 year olds. With over 150,000 members it's the largest club in the world for young people interested in birds and the environment. The RSPB has over 30 years' experience in delivering informal education - providing stimulating games and activities to get environmental messages across in an exciting, fun way.
Click here to visit the main Wildlife Explorers web site where you will find lots of fun competitions, activities, quizzes, things to do, facts and details of Wildlife Explorers.
Members receive the award winning magazine Bird Life six times a year. Each magazine features one project. These projects are fun, educational, participative and help develop responsibility.
One such project is the Big Garden Birdwatch which has been running for 18 years. Young people throughout the country spend an hour counting the types and numbers of bird species in their gardens. This information is collated and totalled to give the nations Wildlife Explorers Top Ten garden birds.
The organisation aims to take all reasonable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of children and other vulnerable people attending its activities and events. It has adopted set procedures for the appointment of staff and volunteers who work closely with young people and established guidelines for them to work to when organising events, wherever they are held
