When I was a child my house backed on to Southchurch Park East and I enjoyed many hours playing in the park. I have recently returned to find that the park which used to be quite heavily manicured has now been allowed to get rather overgrown - especially the pond. This summer (2004) Reed Warblers and Little Grebes have made an appearance and it may be worth including the park for a quick 'pop-in' on your travels. Hopefully, Southend Council will continue to let the reeds grow as this park would potentially be a very good wildlife spot with the correct management.
